Salary source and comparison basis

Pearson Carter’s 2026 Data & AI salary guide, Australia lists A$330,000 as the medium annual base salary for a Chief AI Officer, with a lower-to-upper range of A$264,000–396,000. A$330,000 less the A$174,000 annual partnership fee equivalent gives A$156,000. Checked 8 October 2026.

Salary excludes superannuation, bonuses, recruitment and other employment costs. The partnership fee excludes GST. This is a cost benchmark, not equivalent full-time staffing or guaranteed savings. Scope and responsibilities are agreed before starting; software and substantial custom development are additional.

Broader in-house scenario: a CAIO plus engineers

If you also choose to build an internal engineering team, an illustrative one-CAIO-plus-two-AI-engineer structure totals A$660,000 in annual base salaries: A$330,000 + (2 × A$165,000), using the same guide’s medium Australian benchmarks.

This is a separate organisational scenario, not the service being sold here. The partnership provides ownership, training, coaching and implementation support; an engineering team or substantial custom builds require their own resourcing and scope.

Is this the right fit?

For leadership teams ready to make AI an ongoing business capability.

For you if…

  • You run a A$10–200m business with repeatable work across teams.
  • AI activity needs an accountable leader and a shared direction.
  • You want training, coaching and implementation support that builds your team’s capability.
  • You can provide a sponsor, process owner and time for adoption.

Not for you if…

  • You only want a licence, workshop or strategy report.
  • You need a single fixed project with no ongoing partnership.
  • You want an outsourced development team or unlimited custom builds.
  • You cannot commit people, approved access or human oversight.

A few things worth knowing.

What is an AI implementation partnership?

InnovateX Solutions takes ownership of your AI agenda through fractional Chief AI Officer leadership. We prioritise opportunities, train and coach your people, support implementation and keep progress accountable through a rolling 90 day roadmap and regular reviews.

How much does the partnership cost?

The partnership is A$14,500 per month, excluding GST, with monthly billing and 30 days’ notice. Software, usage and any separate discovery are agreed separately. Scope and start date are confirmed before you commit.

Do you work with businesses across Australia?

Yes. InnovateX Solutions is based in Brisbane and works with Australian businesses. The first strategy call is a 30-minute Microsoft Teams meeting with Todd Johnson.

Do we have to replace our systems?

We start with what you already use. Any new tool, access requirement or additional cost is agreed first. If discovery is needed before reliable scoping, we agree that separately.

What does our team need to do?

Provide an executive sponsor and a process owner. Help us understand the work, provide approved access, test and take part in training. Sensitive decisions and customer commitments stay with your authorised team.

How does implementation support work?

We work alongside your people to put agreed priorities into practice, from choosing tools and shaping the approach to practical configuration, testing and adoption. Substantial custom software, integrations or engineering projects require an explicit scope and separate agreement. Leadership, training, coaching and accountability continue across your roadmap.
