Claude Enterprise vs Copilot vs Gemini: A 2026 Buyer's Guide
Comparing Claude Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini for Australian organisations: when each one …
Read articleA 90-day Claude Enterprise rollout inside Google Workspace runs the same shape as the M365 version, with platform-native differences. Identity comes through Google SSO and SAML federation instead of Entra ID. Pilot context patterns bridge Drive and Gmail instead of SharePoint and Outlook. Coexistence rules sit alongside Gemini for Workspace rather than Copilot. The 90 days lands a rollout that the security team has signed and the user community has adopted, not a deployment-on-paper.
From running Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace rollouts across Brisbane SMB and government, InnovateX has mapped where Claude Enterprise earns its place alongside Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. This post lays out the Workspace version of the 90-day plan.
The plan splits into four phases.
Most Workspace organisations now pay for Gemini for Workspace as part of their Business or Enterprise edition. The question for the IT leadership is whether Claude Enterprise adds enough alongside Gemini to justify the additional licensing and integration work. The 90-day plan answers that question through workflows, not vendor pitches.
The security posture and governance policies covered earlier in this series are pre-requisites. This post assumes both are in place when day one of the 90 days begins.
Activate Google SSO via SAML 2.0. Configure SCIM provisioning so Google Workspace is the source of truth for Claude membership. The Workspace Admin console handles both. If your organisation runs Workspace alongside a separate IdP (Okta, JumpCloud, or Entra ID for hybrid environments), the SCIM source is whichever holds the canonical user record.
Set up Workspace context-aware access policies to restrict Claude access to managed Chrome browsers, trusted networks, or device-attested sessions, depending on the posture you already run for Drive and Gmail.
Same shape as the M365 path. Ten to fifteen users from two or three roles, given Claude Enterprise alongside Gemini for Workspace. Document the workflows that move to Claude, stay on Gemini, or end up on both. The output is a written “where Claude wins in our Workspace stack” document, sourced from live work, following the framework from the buyer’s guide comparison post.
The Drive and Gmail context patterns differ from M365’s. Drive’s native sharing model and Gemini’s deep integration into Docs and Gmail mean Gemini covers more of the workspace-native work than Copilot does in M365. Claude’s leverage in a Workspace organisation is correspondingly heavier on long-context analysis, policy work, and reasoning across many Drive documents.
Pick two or three context patterns to standardise on. The Drive-export-then-upload pattern is the most common. The browser-extension-pasted-into-Claude pattern works for ad-hoc cases. The Gmail-thread-export pattern surfaces in legal and compliance teams.
Gemini for Workspace stays the default for workspace-native work. Drafting in Docs. Replying in Gmail. Summarising in Meet. Cell formulas in Sheets. Claude takes the reasoning-heavy work. Long-context analysis. Policy and proposal drafting. Cross-document synthesis across many Drive folders. Code review against larger codebases.
Publish the rules inside the Workspace Admin console alongside the existing Gemini guidance. Users find both in the same place.
Open access to the full eligible user base. Run the two training sessions (coexistence, AUP plus classification). Hand off support to the existing Workspace helpdesk. Confirm audit-log export from the Workspace Admin console to your SIEM is working at full traffic volume. Verify the offboarding flow (Workspace suspend, SCIM sync, Claude access removed) on a live user.
Same three categories as the M365 path, with Workspace-native variations. Engineering teams pair Claude with Claude Code and the API. Pro-services teams use the chat and project workspace features against Drive content. Agent-style workflows run on API budgets, with the governance policies determining the human-in-the-loop boundary.
Pick the pilot cohort to span all three. Workspace organisations often skew toward pro-services and engineering teams in particular. If your population is more weighted, weight the pilot accordingly.
Assuming Workspace’s identity work transfers to Claude. Workspace’s native identity is excellent for Workspace-native apps. Claude does not consume that identity directly; it consumes it via SAML or SCIM. Configure both.
Pilot cohorts selected from a single department. The Workspace user base often clusters in pro-services or engineering. A pilot drawn from one department misses the variation that surfaces during broad rollout.
Vault-style retention not applied to Claude. Workspace’s Vault retention policy applies to Drive and Gmail. It does not extend to Claude’s chat history. The data classification policy from the governance post has to do that work.
Coexistence rules that ignore the Sheets case. Gemini for Workspace is strong in Sheets. Claude is not. If your organisation runs Sheets-heavy workflows (finance teams, analyst teams), the coexistence rules should route Sheets work to Gemini.
Confirm Workspace SSO and admin posture first. SAML to any other SaaS app should already be configured. SCIM should be working. Context-aware access policies should be applied to your sensitive apps.
Pick the pilot cohort next. Three roles, ten to fifteen users.
Then open the AI Readiness Assessment or its Workspace-specific equivalent. Same three artefacts as the M365 path, covering the security, governance, and rollout brief that day one of the 90-day plan consumes.
We run the 90-day rollout end-to-end inside organisations that already operate Google Workspace with Gemini. Identity through governance through pilot through coexistence through broad rollout, with the audit posture verified at every step. The output is a Claude Enterprise deployment that the security team has signed and the user community has adopted.
This post is part of the Adopting Claude Enterprise series. The equivalent plan for Microsoft 365 organisations shipped earlier this week, and the 30-60-90 measurement scorecard closes the series next Tuesday.
